Let's be honest: We all want to be liked and to fit in, but at some point we have to prioritize our faith in our lives. Is Jesus at the forefront of our life or is He a one day a week ritual? God wants us to experience a relationship with Him daily and the boldness that caused Paul to declare that He wasn't ashamed of the gospel of Christ comes from having a deep relationship with our Father.
The rest of Romans 1:16 says, "...for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." The gospel of Christ is power for everyone who believes. How many of us need that power in our lives - the power to overcome, the power to receive joy, the power to have peace, the power to have patience, the power to trust in the Lord? Romans 14:17 tells us the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. These things should be the norm of the Christian life. How do we experience those things? By getting in the presence of God daily, having a relationship with Him, and plugging into our power source. Your cell phone or tablet or laptop will die if it's not charged regularly. The battery only lasts so long and then you have to recharge. The same is true with our faith. We have to constantly recharge if we want to keep going. That's what it means in Romans 12:2 when it says to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. We have to reconnect to our power source so that we're at full strength.
Are you bold for the gospel and for Jesus? Are you plugged in to your power source? If not, it's time to get recharged and get that battery full again.
